Create a Local Leadership Program
Four Steps to Empower Latino Leaders
At Lideramos, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of Latino leaders. Our structured four-step process is designed to guide you in establishing a robust leadership program that addresses the unique needs of your community.
1
Identify Community Needs
Assess Existing Leadership Development and Identify Potential Partners
Before building your program, investigate current leadership development initiatives in your community using our National Leadership Program Directory. Identify organizations or providers offering similar programs and potential allies serving your target Latino population or addressing similar needs. If a gap exists, proceed with the following steps to build your program.
Best Practice:
Meet with community stakeholders to gauge interest in hosting your program.
2
Build Strategic Partnerships
Define. Partner. Empower.
Form alliances with local organizations and potential sponsors who share your vision for empowering Latino leaders. Establish an advisory board to guide your program’s development and secure commitments from key partners to ensure long-term success and sustainability.
Best Practices for Program Initiation:
- Identify an Advisory Board, potential funders, and initial participants.
- Define your program type and target participants.
- Secure a sponsoring organization and identify community resources.
3
Develop a Comprehensive Program
Get Certified in Lideramos Core Elements for Program Excellence
The Lideramos Core Elements Training Program offers quality, evidence-based standards, including practical experience and training models, to ensure your leadership program is culturally focused, effective, and sustainable. Adhering to these best practices will enable you to deliver a high-quality program that meets your community’s needs.
Best Practices for Program Development:
- Assemble a curriculum and program design team to review LIDERAMOS core elements and determine the best fit for your community.
- Identify and secure commitments from resource people, presenters, and facilitators.
- Confirm and secure funding and in-kind resources (e.g., facility, equipment).
